Tuyama, 1966, Camellia Cultivars of Japan, p.96, and 1968, Camellias of Japan, pl.21, p.11 as ‘Dai-haku-ren’, p.91 description: Leaves, broadly oblong or oblong-elliptic, shortly acuminate, with glabrous petioles. Flowers single, pure white; petals roundish, crimped at margin. Stamens cylindrical, pale yellow anthers, white filaments. The Kadan Chikinshō variety is read as ‘Ōshirahasu’ and is obsolete; Tuyama’s Camellia is a modern one, originated in Sofue-chō, Nakajima-gun, Aichi Prefecture, Japan in 1933. The Chinese reading is ‘Daibaihe’.
