Sakata and Arisumi, 1983, International Camellia Jour­nal, No.15, p.22. Red form of Egao. Hakoda, JCS., 1987, Tsubaki, No.26, p.50: Light red, some­times with white markings, large size double with a petaloid centre. Leaves mid-green, 7.8 cm long x 3.2 cm wide. A tetraploid camellia. Originated in Japan. Many old trees are growing in Itoshima District, Fukuoka Prefecture.
