This 10-year-old C. japonica chance seedling of ‘Holly Bright’ first bloomed in 2010. It was originated, registered and propagated by Pat B. Johnson of Cairo, Georgia, USA. Bloom: The large sized 11.4cm x 5.1cm formal double to rose form double form flower is dark red. This profuse bloomer falls in one piece with consistent form, is long lasting and has heavy petal texture. The petals are rolled, giving them a pointed look. Plant: The plant habit is upright and dense. The growth rate is average. The plant is suitable for landscaping and exhibition uses. Leaf: The light green leaves are highly serrated and average 7.6cm- 10.1cm x 5.1cm. Bloom season: Early to late.
