ACS Registration #2933. The Camellia Journal, 2015, 70(2):30 with color photo. American Camellia Yearbook, 2014, p. 141 with color photo and description. This 10-year-old C. japonica chance seedling first bloomed in 2010. It was originated, registered and propagated by Carrie Lee Pierson Shwartz of Folsom, Louisiana. Bloom: The small - medium sized 7.7cm-8.3cm x 2.6cm formal double form flower is a deep magenta red to deep purple fading to grey as the bloom ages from the edges out. It falls in one piece. It is a shade of deeper purple /red than ‘Mathotiana’, but with a similar matte surface texture, but not as dark as ‘Cherries Jubilee’. It is shaped like ‘Seafoam’ with pointed petals. Some blooms have faint white stripes down the center of each petal. Plant: The plant habit is upright. The growth rate is average. The plant is suitable for landscaping and exhibition uses. Leaf: The dark green leaves average 10.2cm x 5.7cm with medium serration. Bloom season: Early.
