Nippon Tsubaki - Sasanqua Meikan, 1998, p.20 with colour photo; English translation p.12. Medium size, red single, embracing petals, fragrant, stamens protruding, believed to be triploid. Flowers early to mid-season. Leaves broadly elliptic, large, thick. Upright, vigorous growth. Selected from wild japonicas. Named and released by Takeo Ogawa. From Izu-Ōshima Island.
