Berlèse, 1844, Annales de la Société d’Horticulture de Paris, 34(197):205: Leaves, 9-10 cm long by 6-7 cm wide, wide-ovate, lightly veined, coarsely serrate, dark green; buds, large, pointed with greenish scales. Flower, rose form double, 10-11 cm across of deep rose or soft red with a touch of carmine; star-like in form; outside petals in 4 rows, ovate-­oblong, channelled, finely veined and notched; those at the centre, numerous, very short, mixed with stamens and petaloids, splashes of white a little like Oxoniensis. Originated in France.
