Burnier & Grilli Catalogue,1846-1847 as ‘Amazzone’: Large, formal double, deep red displaying petals like a star. Originated in Italy. Orthographic errors: ‘Amazzone’, ‘Amazoni’ Van Geert, 1848 has this as a synonym for Maria Dorothea, but this is in error as Maria Dorothea is a white.
