Angelica Ventimiglia di Monforte Cicogna Mozzoni (C. japonica). Originated from a seedling in Villa Cicogna Mozzoni in Bisuschio (Varese), Italy. Dedicated to Angelica Ventimiglia di Monforte Cicogna Mozzoni (1961-2023), who lived in Bisuschio for many years as owner of the villa and its historic garden. Constituted in 2024 by Angelica’s brother Jacopo Cicogna Mozzoni who is running the propriety of Villa Cicogna Mozzoni. Flower: formal double imperfect; medium size; diameter 7.5-8.3 cm; depth 2.5-3.5 cm; petals 42-35, shape round (sometimes heart-shaped) elliptical towards the center of the flower; stamens and petaloids are rare (max 15); color magenta RHS CC = 57D-57C (darker) e 55B-54B (lighter); variegation are spots and rare streaks of white RHS CC = 155D. Leaf: 7.5-8.8 cm long and 3.6-4.6 cm wide; leaf index (length / width) 2.55; shape: from elliptic to ovate; leaf apex from sharp to pointed, briefly serrated margin; color upper dark green RHS CC = 174A, background olive green RHS CC =146B. Plant: upright growth; medium time flowering. Other data: At the beginning of the blooming the flower are darker and more compact and at the end of the blooming they become lighter and more variegated. The plant is a seedling that is growing naturally at the base of a yew tree (Taxus baccata) and it is not far from the area where are the historical group of camellias with ‘Preston Rose’, ‘Conte G.P. Cicogna’ and ‘Rubra simplex’.
