Seibundō Shinkōsha, 1979, Senchinshū, p.14, colour photo, p.199, description: Flower, light red graduations, single of 7 large, strongly crinkled petals, opening through campanulate to flat, 8-10 cm across. Mid-season flowering. Central stamen tube. Leaves, medium size, narrowly elliptic, apex acuminate, base acute, deep green with clear venation. Growth, erect, not vigorous. Originated in Kawaguchi-shi, Saitama Prefecture, Kantō District, in Japan. For botanical drawings, colour photo and description, see p.72, 73, 74, Kyōto Engei Kurabu, Tsubaki Tokushū, No.11, 1982. The colour of the flower, leaves, plant habit etc. resemble those of Tarōkaja, of which it is thought to be a seedling.
