Areeiro

Areeiro (Camellia japonica). Publición de la Sociedad Española de la Camelia, 33. 2018, p.39. ORIGIN: obtained from seed in 1997 in the Estación Fitopatolóxica Areeiro (Pontevedra). FLOWER: Size: small-medium, 7-8.5 cm in diameter and 3-5.5 cm depth. Colour: pink, 58B-C the external petals and 57C-D the inner petals and petaloids ( colour chart), homogeneous or white RHS maculated. Shape: anemone-peony form. Petals: 20-40, rounded the external ones and elliptical or irregular the internal ones mixed with petaloids. notched and variously notched, cordated or wavy margins. Petaloids: from 90 to 210, disordered. Stamens: from 3 to 20, dispersed and mixed with petaloids, white filaments. LEAF: Size: medium, 8-10.5 cm long and 5-6.5 cm wide. Colour: medium green. Shape: elliptical. Margin: serrated apex and slightly serrated towards the base. Apex: pointed or acuminate. Base: acute. PLANT: Blooming period: mid season, it starts in January and ends in April. The flower falls whole. Habit: a bush with semi-open habit and medium growth rate.
