River View Nursery Catalogue, 1947-1948, p.10; Thompson, 1953, American Camellia Yearbook, p.79: While this unusual white single has only 6 petals, their arrangement is striking there are three petals in the bottom row and three on the top and they overlap like shingles. The petals are wide and crinkled and there is a large, stamen cluster in the centre. The flower opens with a faint blush and later becomes pure white. The plant has a pyramidal growth habit and blooms midseason. A seedling of Kamo-honnami, erroneously as ‘Amabilis’, raised by Harvey Short, Ramona, California, USA.
