» English Description

Asagiri. (C. sinensis). Registered in 1954. Selected from seedlings of original Japanese tea in Uji. Use for Gyokuro, powdered green tea. Kyoto Pref.

[Agriculture registration] Tea Norin 18

[Product registration] None

[Characteristics] Currently, there is very little dislike of cultivation.

[Developer] Kyoto Prefectural Tea Research Institute

[History] In 1939, it was selected from the traditional seed tea affairs at the Kyoto Prefectural Tea Research Institute's Kiba Hata test site. It was registered as agriculture and forestry in 1954 after a candidate comparison test of tree performance (strain comparison test). The old strain name is "Kyoken 113". As the name says in the Tale of Genji, "There is a fog in Uji, and in the 1000 series collection, there is "Ashishirogi of the Seto, which is fluttering in the river fog of Uji in the morning," , Given that it is close to the image of Uji.

[Early-earing] A sprout and plucking period is a mesozoic species that is about 3 days earlier than'Yabukita'.

[Morphological characteristics] The tree shape is medium, and the tree vigor and strain are medium. The shoot length is rather short. The shape, size, thickness, color, and gloss of the new leaf are oval, medium, medium, light green, and medium. The mature leaves are slightly green and have a glossy finish.

[Cutting rooting] Somewhat inferior.

[Good or bad initial growth] Since the initial growth is rather poor and it is vulnerable to drought in the summer, careful management such as bedding is required.

[Method of tailoring young trees] If deep pruning is carried out during the young tree period, the tree vigor tends to weaken and the number of branches tends to decrease. Therefore, from the year of planting to the second year of the planting, pruning should be avoided, and thereafter, the shoots should be cut back, and the growth should be carefully observed and appropriately performed. Not only during the early years, it is good to make it as high as possible

[Yield] The yield is slightly low to medium and inferior to'Yabukita'.

[Quality] Excellent as gyokuro, excellent in color, fragrance and taste

[Cold resistance] Medium to moderately strong.

[Insect resistance] Slightly vulnerable to anthrax.

[Suitable for cultivation] Since the germination period is rather early, it is suitable for areas where there is little risk of damage from late frost.

[Processing characteristics] Suitable for hand-picked undercover tea.
