Seibundō Shinkōsha, 1980, Senchinshū, p.135, colour photo, p.246, description: Light red, single, 6-7 petals with cen­tral column of stamens, shallow cup-shaped, 8-10 cm across, reflexing with age. Leaves, broad­elliptic, round base, medium to large, thick, coarsely serrate. Translation: Benibana means “red flower”; kakuba is “angular leaved” and rōgetsu means december, referring to its early flower­ing. However it has no relationship with Rōgetsu. Originated in Ehime Prefecture, Japan.
