American Camellia Yearbook, 1959, p.269, Reg. No.393: A chance seedling originated by Mrs Harriet K. Edwards, South Carolina, USA that first flowered 1955. Plant growth is upright and average density and rate of growth, with dark green leaves. The dark red flowers (Nickerson chart 2.R 9/3-2.5R 5/12) are 11-12.5 cm across and 4-5 cm deep with 25 petals and 15 petaloids. Flowers mid-season.
