Bessie Battle. (C.japonica) ACS Yearbook2014, p.140 with colour photo; Regn. No. 2931. Originated by Dodd Nurseries,Semmes, Alabama, USA. Registered and propagated by Jerry and Carol Selph,Quitman, Georgia. A 19 year old seedling, parentage unknown, first flowered1999. Medium size, 9 cm diameter x 5.7 cm deep flower is white, semi-double toloose peony form. Gold anthers and white filaments. Heavy petal texture, andflowers fall in one piece. Plant is upright and spreading, with average growthrate. Dark green leaves average 8.2 cm x 3.2 cm with low serration. Flowersmid-season.
