Bessie Battle. (C.japonica) ACS Yearbook 2014, p.140 with colour photo; Regn. No. 2931. Originated by Dodd Nurseries, Semmes, Alabama, USA. Registered and propagated by Jerry and Carol Selph, Quitman, Georgia. A 19 year old seedling, parentage unknown, first flowered 1999. Medium size, 9 cm diameter x 5.7 cm deep flower is white, semi-double to loose peony form. Gold anthers and white filaments. Heavy petal texture, and flowers fall in one piece. Plant is upright and spreading, with average growth rate. Dark green leaves average 8.2 cm x 3.2 cm with low serration. Flowers mid-season.
