Burgundy Blues   (C. japonica)   Registered in 2020. ACS Registration #3204. This 17 year-old C. japonica chance seedling first bloomed in 2010. It was originated, registered and propagated by Pat B. Johnson of Cairo, Georgia, USA. Bloom The medium sized 8.9cm x 5.1cm semidouble form flower is burgundy and blue with gold anthers and white filaments. This cultivar is a profuse bloomer, falls in one piece, is long lasting, has heavy petal texture and has consistent form. Plant The plant habit is upright and dense. The growth rate is average. The plant is suitable for landscaping and exhibition. Leaf The medium green leaves average 8.3cm x 3.2cm with low serration. Bloom season Early to midseason.
