Butchie (C. japonica) ACS, Reg. No.2476. AmericanCamellia Yearbook, 1998, p1, with color photo in color inset. 1. Avery large, rose pink, anemone to peony form C. japonica chanceseedling, early to late. Originated and propagated by W. T. Shepherd, N.Charleston, sc. The 8-year-old seedling first bloomed in 1990. Average sizeflower, untreated, is 5"-5-1/2" wide and 2-1/2" deep with 40petals, 20 petaloid, yellow anthers and pink filaments. Average size flower,treated, is 6" wide and 3" deep. Blooms have stamen intermixed amongpetals. Plant growth is upright, spreading and average with dark green leavesmeasuring 3-1/2"-4" long and 1-1/2" wide.
