Originatedby Leonor Magariños, and registeredby Estación Fitopatolóxica Areeiro (Deputación de Pontevedra, Galicia, SPAIN). Published in Camelia, the journal of Sociedad Española de la Camelia-Spain, 2016, 29:28. Obtained from C. reticulata ‘Lasca Beauty’ seed.First flowering in 2013. FLOWER: semidouble, very large (around 15 cm in diameter), bright light pink (57 C-D -RHSCC), homogeneous, with 15-20 ovate petals, occasionally petaloids and tubular stamens. LEAF: medium to dark green, 13-17 cm lenght and 5.5-6 cm widht, elliptical, with serrated margin, acuminate apex and acute basis. PLANT: shrubby, upright, open and medium growing. Mid to late flowering period,from February to April. Other data: Named in honor of Francisco José de Caldas y Tenorio,renowned scientist and hero of Colombia´s independence, who was borned in Caldas de Reis, Pontevedra (Spain). From October 21, 2016, there is a plant of this cultivar in “Parque- Xardín de Caldas de Reis” in Caldas (Pontevedra, Galicia), where José de Caldas has his roots to commemorate the bicentenary of his death (1816-2016).
