Carter’s Sunburst Special. (C.japonica), ACS Registration #2925. The Camellia Journal,2014, 69(3):28 with color photo. American Camellia Yearbook, 2014, p. 137 with color photo and description. This C. japonica sport of ‘Carter’s Sunburst’ was originated, registered and propagated by Tommy Alden of Byron, Georgia. Bloom: The large - very large sized 13.6cm x 6.4cm semidouble to loose peony to rose form double form flower is medium pink with deeper pink veining occasionally striped dark pink to red. It has bright yellow anthers and white filaments. The blooms fall in one piece. Each petal has an ir-regular white border. It won best mutant at the 2014 Costal Carolina Show in Charleston, South Carolina. Plant: The plant habit is upright. The growth rate is vigorous. The plant is suitable for landscaping and exhibition uses. Leaf: The medium green leaves average 8.9cm x 6.4cm with medium serration. Bloom season: Early to late.
