Seibundō Shinkōsha, 1979, Senchinshū, p.229: Red, vertical variegation on a white background; white double, peony form blooms, medium size. Mid-season flowering. Leaves, elliptic, medium size, acuminate, curved, sharply serrate. Plant habit, erect and vigorous. Originated in Kurume, Fukuoka Province, Japan. “Chikugo” is the ancient name for “Fukuoka”.
