Chongningpao

Chongningpao. (Camellia japonica)  Synonym: None  Originate: Sichuan  Characteristics: Plant relatively vigorous with open crown, internodes short. Leaves light green, elliptic, with apex apiculate, base broad obtuse, measured 6 cm to 7 cm across by 3 cm to 3.5 cm wide, with apex reflexed, undulate, serrate shallow and sparse. Floral Bud elliptic. Calyxes rusty brown. Flowers bright red. Outer petals, 16 segments, with margins slightly reflexed. Small petaloids by stamens, folded, irregular sized, mixed with normal stamens, rose double form, diameter 10 cm to 12 cm wide, medium floral abundance. Blooms January to March, at fully blooming March.  Key points of identification: leaves undulate, flower bright red, petaloids twisted and irregular.

崇宁袍 Chongning Gown 高继银、苏玉华、胡羡聪，2007. 《国内外茶花名种识别与欣赏》，第60页。四川省崇宁县一带，现仅存于什邡市徐永才茶花园内花红色至深红色，牡丹型，大型花，花瓣大波浪状，先端有凹□，花心小花瓣与金黄色雄蕊混生，花朵稠密。叶片浓绿色,披针形，光亮，植株开张，生长缓慢。花期早至中。

周利主编、2011《川茶品种图鉴》 p.241。树势较强，树冠开张，枝条节间短，生长旺盛；叶浅绿色，椭圆形，先端渐尖，基部楔形，叶长8.5cm~9.5cm，宽4.5cm~5.5cm，叶尖较长下弯，叶片凹凸不平，叶齿浅、稀；花蕾椭圆形，花萼绣褐色，花大红色，外轮大花瓣16枚，瓣缘略反卷，部分雄蕊瓣化呈小花瓣。瓣化瓣扭曲，大小不整齐，与未瓣化的雄蕊混生，玫瑰重瓣型，花径10cm~12cm，花量中等，花期1-3月，盛花期3月。识别特征：叶片凹凸不平，花大红色，瓣化瓣扭曲不整齐。原始产地：四川
