Chuan Mudan Cha

Chuanmudancha. (C.japonica), Chinese Camellia Culture, 2003, Appendix, p.570; Robust plant with horizontal branches. Leaf elliptic, yellowish green, 7.5-10 cm x 4-5.5 cm. Flower spinel red, 11-13 cm diameter. About 10 petals, flat in 2-3 rows, bases joined, large and thick, veins obvious, irregularly arranged. Some petaloids and stamens. Flowers early to late. From Sichuan Province, China.

Chuan Mudancha. (Camellia japonica)  Synonym: Camellia japonica 'mudancha'  Originate: Chongqing  Characteristics: Plant habit open and vigorous. Leaves elliptical, yellowish green and glossy, with apex apiculate, measured7.5 cm to 10 cm long by 4 cm to 5.5 cm wide. Sepals about 10, open. Petals flat, imbricated in 2-3 rows, broad rounded, thick, veined obviously, imbricated irregularly. Petaloids derived from some stamens, irregular, intersected with normal stamens. Flowers dark red in initial period, and gradually changed light red to silver red, peony double form, large to very large size, with diameter 11 cm to 15 cm wide. Blooms late October to March, and no obvious full blossom period. Early blooming, fertile, medium quantity of flowers.  Key points of identification: Blooming very early; large peony flower; fertile; strong resistant to air pollution and high temperature; tolerant to sun light; and suitable for potted planting and ornamental landscape.

川牡丹茶 Chuan Mudan Cha 否 周利主编、2011《川茶品种图鉴》 p.36。植株开张，生长旺盛；叶椭圆形，叶色黄绿光亮，先端渐尖，叶长7.5cm-10cm,宽4cm-5.5cm;花萼张开，平瓣2轮~3轮，约10枚，宽圆形，花瓣质地厚实，瓣脉明显,排列不规则，雄蕊瓣化瓣大小高低不整齐，与雄蕊相间，花初为深红色，后逐渐变成浅红近银红色，牡丹型，花径11cm-15cm,大到巨型花，花量中等，花期10月下旬~次年3月陆续开放，盛花期不明显。早花品种，能结实。识别特征：本品种花期特早,花大，牡丹型，能结实，可区別于其它品种。抗污染、抗高温能力强。耐日晒，适合盆栽和园林应用。原始产地：重庆
