Claudia M. Bates (C. japonica). Registered in 2022. ACS Registration #3305. It was originated and registered by Joseph Sabo from Ocala, Florida, USA. A 12 year old chance seedling of C. japonica 'Black Gold'. It was first bloomed in 2016. Flower loose peony to semidouble form with the center having firm rabbit ears giving height to each bloom, medium size, 8.9 cm in diameter, 5.1 cm in depth, brilliant red center with petals becoming more burgundy at edges with gold anthers and hot pink to light pink filaments. Leaf dark green, 8.9 cm long, and 3.5 cm wide. Plant upright, medium density growth, vigorous growth rate. Bloom mid-season to late.
