Verschaffelt, 1848, Nouvelle Iconographie, Book VI, pl.I: This plant was obtained from seed in Italy...it is of vigorous aspect, covered with oval-elongated, pointed leaves, serrated only towards the apex, of deep, glossy green. The ample, flat blossoms are regularly imbricated, the numerous petals are rounded, slightly emarginate, of a bright pink, tinged with white and veined a deeper shade of pink.
