Da Gongfen

Dagongfen. (Camellia japonica)  Synonym: None  Originate: Sichuan  Characteristics: Plant habit vigorous, open canopy. acutely branching angle. Sepals are open. Leaves green, obovate to nearly rounded, measured 9.5 cm to 11 cm across by 6 cm to 6.5 cm wide, with apex apiculate and recurved, flat, serrate shallowly and sparsely, venation netted. Flowers deep pink. Petals elliptic, with apex notched. Small and irregular petaloids by stamens in floral centre, 57 segments, floral depressed. Diameter 10 cm to 11 cm wide. Formal double form, medium floral abundance. Flowering January to April, at fully blooming in March. Key points of identification: Leaves obovate to rounded, netted venation, floral centre depressed.
