Dan's Melanie.(C. sasanqua). C. Aust, Camellia News, No. 183, Winter 2010, p.10 with colour photo; Regn No.639N; A chance seedling of Dan's Alice, first flowered 1991. Fast, upright, bushy growth, with elliptic leaves. New growth has a weeping tendency. Blooms mid to late sasanqua season. Highly perfumed, medium size, single blooms are white to very pale pink at the centre, shading to dark pink or cerise at the edges. Petals are broad, rounded, slightly incurved and creped at the edges. Flared column of cream stamens with a split pistil. Originated by Kurt Boesen, Dancraft Nurseries, Wilberforce, NSW, Aust.
