Deacon Willie Leach   (C. japonica)   Registered in 2020. ACS Registration #3177. This 15 year-old C. japonica chance seedling first bloomed in 2010. It was originated and propagated by Magnolia Plantation and Gardens of Charleston, South Carolina and registered by Robert Williams of Charleston, South CarolinaUSA. Bloom The medium sized 10.2cm x 5.1cm loose peony to anemone form flower is rose pink with yellow anthers and pink filaments. This cultivar falls in one piece, is long lasting and has consistent form. Plant The plant habit is upright and open. The growth rate is average. The plant is suitable for landscaping and exhibition. Leaf The dark green leaves average (5.1cm - 6.4cm) x 3.8cm with low serration. Bloom season Early to midseason.
