Dianchi Mingzhu

Dianchi Mingzhu (C. reticulata). China Regn. #2008-022. China Flowers & Horticulture, 2008, No.4, p.47. This cultivar was selected from the seedlings of Camellia reticulata ‘Zaotaohong’ pollinated by natural. Flowers loosen peony form, pink, 15-17 in diameter. Petals 26-28, the outer flat while the inner incurve. Most stamen developed well distributed in the petals. Leaves long elliptic, bases cuneate, apices long acuminate and downward outcurve, 10.6-14.2 cm long and 4.5-6.0 cm wide. The flowering season is from January to March. The cultivar has paler color of flower than its mother 'Zaotaohong' and the leaves are very different from mother tree as well.  The first word of cultivar’s name comes from the name of largest lake “Dianchi” near Kunming city. The second word means “Bright Pearl”.

滇池明珠 Camellia reticulata ‘Dianchi Mingzhu’ 中国登录号：2008-022，《中国花卉园艺》2008年第4期47页。由夏丽芳命名，中国科学院昆明植物研究所培育并登录。该品种为昆明植物园云南山茶‘早桃红’自然杂交后代中选育的。花为松散牡丹型，粉红色（R.H.S.C.C.68B），花瓣26-28片，花径15-17厘米，花瓣外瓣平，内瓣曲折，雄蕊多数发育良好，独心或分束夹于曲折的花瓣中。叶长椭圆形，基部楔形，先端长尖下勾，长10.6-14.2厘米，宽4.5-6厘米。花期1-3月。识别点：本品种从‘早桃红’自然杂交种子实生苗中选育，花色粉红，比‘早桃红’花色浅，叶形与‘早桃红’叶差别较大，易于区分。
