Dick Dodd (C. japonica) ACS, Reg. No.2464. American Camellia Yearbook, 1998, p1, with color photo in color inset. 2.A large, cherry red, rose form double, C. japonica chance seedling, mid-season. Originated by Richard E. Dodd, Marshallville, GA. The 14-year-old seedling has average size flowers which are 4-1/2" wide and 1-3/4" deep with 37 petals, golden anthers and creamy to red at base filaments. Plant growth is upright, dense, and average with dark green leaves measuring 4- 1/2" long and 2-1/2" wide.
