Verschaffelt, 1860, Nouvelle Iconographie, Book V, pl.III: Secured by grafting from a mutation on General Washington. The flowers are large and formed of petals of unusual amplitude, rounded and lobulate, regularly imbricated, of a rosy white, deeper coloured at the centre, mottled and streaked with crimson and with a faint yellow stripe in the centre of each. Originated in Belgium by Verschaffelt.
