Dona Maria Helena Van-Zeller. (C.japonica), José Marques Loureiro, Catalogue No.22, 1886-1887, Ref.759, p.91 (Novelty): Ranunculiform, (formal double), white with occasional pink stripes. Remarkable. Included in the list of camellias obtained in Fiaes, Jornal de Horticultura Practica, Vol.XXIII, 1892, “Fiaes, Eden das Camellias”, by A. d’Almeida, p.100, and described as: “… very correct formal double, showing constantly the more remarkable cases of dymorphism.” Sequeira Catalogue, 1892: White with occasional pink stripes. Abbreviation: ‘D. Maria Helena Van-Zeller’. Identified and obtained by seedling at Quinta de Fiaes, Portugal, by Christiano van Zeller and named after his daughter Maria Helena, according to his camellia list from 1879 (IC Journal, 2002, p.43).
