Duoji Naidong

Duoji Naidong (C. azalea × C. japonica form 'Naidong'). Liu Xinkai et al. 2023, Illustrations of the New Camellia Hybrids that Bloom Year-round, Zhejiang Science and Technology Publishing House, p.131. HA-60-1., a cross seedling (DND-No.1) of C. azalea × C. japonica form 'Naidong'. Flowers peach red, most of flowers are solitary at terminal, single form, semi-opened, miniature size, 5.5-6.Ocm across, petals broad obovate, edges crinkled, stamens columnar. Tend leaves pale red, mature leaves dark green, leathery, elliptic, margins shallowly serrate. Plant upright, spread branches sparse and growth vigorous. Starts to bloom from late-summer, fully blooms from autumn to winter and sporadically in spring. The trial planting in Qingdao, Shandong Province has showed that this new hybrid can tolerate -17°C extreme air temperature in winter, however, it is necessary to do more trial plantings. The cultivar name means “Multiseasonal Naidong”.

多季耐冬 Camellia ‘Duoji Naidong’ 。刘信凯、钟乃盛、柯欢、武艳芳主编，2023，《第二部四季茶花杂交新品种彩色图集》，浙江科学技术出版社，第131页。 HA-60-1.杂交组合：杜鹃红山茶×红山茶类型‘耐冬’，杂交苗编号：DND-No.1。花朵桃红色，多单朵顶生，单瓣型，呈半开放状态，微型花，花径5.5-6.0cm,花瓣6-7枚，阔倒卵形，长5.5cm，宽4.5cm，边缘皱褶，雄蕊柱状，基部连生。嫩叶淡红色，成熟叶片浓绿色，叶背面灰绿色，革质，椭圆形，长10.0-11.0cm，宽4.5-5.0cm,边缘叶齿浅。植株立性，开张，枝叶稀疏，生长旺盛。夏末始花，秋、冬季盛花，春季零星开花。山东青岛的试种已经证明，该杂交新品种冬季可忍耐-17°C的极端气温，然而，仍需要进行更多的试种。
