American Camellia Yearbook, 1983, p.158, Reg. No.1874: A very large, deep burgundy red, semi-double, C.reticulata hybrid (‘Crimson Robe’ (Dataohong) x Jean Pursel), blooming mid-season to late and originated by Frank Pursel, Oakland, California, USA. The 8 year old seedling first bloomed 1980. Average flower size, 15 cm across x 4 cm deep with numerous petaloids and yellow anthers. Plant growth is upright and medium in rate with dark green leaves, 10 cm long x 7 cm wide.
