Watanabe & Andoh, 1980, Hana to Kino Bunka. Tsubaki, p.147 as ‘Erh-hung-yang’: Pink, medium sized, informal double. Originated in China.

Er’hongyang (Camellia japonica)  Synonym: None  Originate: Sichuan  Characteristics: Plant habit vigorous, with open crown, shoots slightly drooping. Leaves deep green, twisted, measured 8 cm to 9 cm across by 3.5 cm to 4 cm, with apex apiculate, base cuneate, serration shallow and sparse. Sepals are open. Flowers deep pink, diameter 8 cm to 9 cm wide, imbricated regularly and loosely, rounded, with occasional white stripes, thinner and soft texture, 74 segments, formal double form, medium floral abundance. Blooms February to April, at fully blooming March.  Key points of identification: Flowers deep pink, petals thin and soft with occasional white stripes , imbricated loosely.
