Fayun

Fayun (C. reticulata). China Regn. #2009-047. China Flowers & Horticulture, 2009, No.12, p.48. This cultivar was selected from an ancient big tree in Zixin Mountain, Chuxiong, Yunnan, China with special characteristics by having particular leaf shape, bright flower colour. Leaves, dark green, ovate，flat or wave, 7.2-8.8 cm long and 3.5-4.5 cm wide, the bases cuneate, the apices caudate, veins obvious, margins serrulate. Flowers rose type, deep peach red, 9-11 cm in diameter; petals 23, many stamens petaloid, part of which remain in the centre of flower. The flowering season is from January to February. The mother tree was planted in Fayun temple by a monk in Qing Dynasty, and was propagated by a local people called Shi Yongming in 2006 by approaching grafted method as the old tree seemed to getting very weak, now the cultivar has more than 30 individuals. The temple was ruined 200 years ago but the tree keep alive till the year 2008. The cultivar was named after the temple’s name.

法云 Camellia reticulata ‘Fayun’ 中国登录号：2009-047，《中国花卉园艺》2009年第12期48页。由张方玉命名，楚雄茶花协会培育并登录。该品种母树为清代紫溪山法云寺僧人所植，紫溪山龙坝村施永明于2006年嫁接繁殖数株。古树已死，寺院现仅遗迹存在，品种名由原寺院名法云寺而来。花蔷薇型，深桃红色，花径9～11厘米，花瓣23枚，雄蕊多数瓣化，部分留于花心。叶片卵圆型，长7.2～8.8厘米，宽3.5～4.5厘米，先端尾尖，基部楔形，叶面深绿、平坦或波状起伏，叶脉明显，叶缘具细锯齿。花期1月～2月。识别点：本品种花深桃红色，玫瑰重瓣型，叶形特殊，卵圆形，先端尾尖，基部楔形，叶脉明显，叶缘锯齿细。
