Filoli Red (C. reticulata) ACS, Reg. No.2387. American Camellia Yearbook, 1996,p2. with color photo in color inset 4. A very large, brilliant red,semidouble C. reticulata hybrid of 'Shot Silk', mid-season to late.Originated by Houghton Hall, San Anselmo, CA and propagated by Hulyn Smith,Valdosta, GA and Roscoe Dean, Lucedale, MS. The 16-year-old seedling firstbloomed in 1987. Average size flower is 6" wide and 3" deep with 13petals, 2-3 petaloids, golden anthers and white filaments. Plant growth isupright and rapid with dark green, finely serrated leaves measuring 4"long and 2" wide.
