Originated in Tokyo, Japan by Funatsu, Kanematsu. Nippon Tsubaki - Sasanqua Meikan, 1998, p.323; English translation p.238. Flowers early to mid-season. Leaves narrowly elliptic, small. Spreading, vigorous growth. A natural seedling of Funatsu. Named by Takeo Ogawa.
