Satomi, 1958, Nomenclature List of Sasanqua of Japan, p.8: Pure white. Large double with rounded petals. Originated in Japan.Nippon Tsubaki - Sasanqua Meikan, 1998, p.228 with colour photo; English translation p.159. Medium to large, white, semi-double, somewhat lotus-formed, cylindrical stamen column. Flowers mid-season to late. Leaves elliptic, medium to large. Upright growth. The original tree is growing in Reikanji Temple in Kyoto. Was called ‘Shiro-botan’ (White Peony) in the List of Kanaoka Chinju’en Nursery in 1967. From Kyoto.
