Fuwa Xinyi

Fuwa Xinyi (C. japonica 'Tama Peacock' × C. azlea F1 new hybeid 'Hongwu Jixiang'). Liu Xinkai et al. 2023, Illustrations of the New Camellia Hybrids that Bloom Year-round, Zhejiang Science and Technology Publishing House, p.431. HAR-35-15., a cross seedling (YUJX-No.32) of C. japonica 'Tama Peacock' × C. azlea F1 new hybeid 'Hongwu Jixiang'. Flowers red to dark red with waxy luster, bordered with obvious narrow white edges, single form, medium to large size, 9.5-10.5cm across with 6 petals, petals broad obovate, thick texture, rolled outward, slightly crinkled at the edges, apices emarginate, stamens united into a column at the base, filaments red, anthers golden yellow. Leaves deep green, leathery, elliptic, margins sharply serrate. Plant upright, branches spread and growth vigorous. Starts to bloom from autumn, fully blooms in winter and continuously in spring. The cultivar name means “Mascots' New Clothes”.
