Gene Phillips (C. japonica).  published in American Camellia Yearbook 2021, p. 117. Registered in 2021. ACS Registration #3277. It was originated and registered by Pat B. Johnson from Cairo, Georgia, USA. A 14 years old, chance seedling of C. japonica 'Owen Henry'. It was first bloomed in 2010. Flower: rose form double to formal double form, Mediumto large size 9.5 cm in diameter and 5.1 cm in depth, Shades of burgundy pink with purple tinge on edges with yellow anthers and red filaments. Leaf: dark green, 10.2 cm long, and 3.8` cm wide. Plant: upright, dense growth, average growth rate. Bloom early to mid-season.
