ACS., Quarterly, 1951, 6(2):7: A seedling of unknown parentage from the Garden Hill Nursery, Summerville, South Carolina, USA, age 7 years. First flowered 1949, introduced 1950. Type of plant growth is open and upright. Manner of growth is rapid. Leaves are long, heavily veined on the top side, colour medium green. Flower buds oval and green. Flower is incomplete double, mixed petaloids. Colour velvety red, fading towards the centre. Mid-season blooming. ACS., 1954, American Camellia Yearbook, Reg. No.109.
