Fendig, 1953, American Camellia Catalogue: Incomplete double, rose-pink, mid-season. American Camellia Yearbook, 1954, p.314, Reg. No.144: A 9 years old seedling of unknown parentage that first bloomed 1950. Originated by Filo Turner, Pensacola, Florida, USA. Leaves, olive green, long, evenly serrate. Flowers, incomplete double with mixed petaloids, similar to Nobilissima. A double row of guard petals, notched and firm in texture, with a centre of stamens interspersed with petaloids and petals. Colour rose-pink. Size 11 cm across. Flowers early to mid-season. Abbreviation: ‘Gov. Kennon’.
