Berlèse, 1840, Monographie, ed.2, p.160, as ‘Griffini Plena’ on p.232: Flower is full, in excess of 9 cm across, of a dark carmine with 4-5 exterior rows of large petals, oblong, scalloped, reflexed and irregularly imbricated. Those at the centre are numerous, in a group, both small and large, but of the same form. However there is, in the centre, 3 or 4 small, white petals. Originated in Belgium. Synonym: ‘Griffinii Plena’. Orthographic errors: ‘Griffini’, Griffia’.
