Anonymous, Mar. 1839, Revue Horticole, p.203-204 as ‘Grunelli’; Berlèse, 1843, Iconographie, vol.2, pl.132: The flower is often 12-14 cm across or more, full, irregular, pure white. The corolla is anemone form with a resemblance to ‘Waratah Alba’, (Anemoniflora Alba). It has 2-3 rows of exterior petals, very wide, oval-oblong or round oval, twisted and reflexed. The centre consists of innumerable, small, distorted petals without order, making a large, spherical mass over 5 cm in diameter.
