» English Description

Berlèse, 1849, Annales de la Société d’Horticulture de France, vol.40, p.307 as ‘Grunon Rosea’: Vigorous shrub, slender, leaves with 6-7 cm wide by 11-12 cm long, ovate-acuminate, horizontal, intermingled with others narrowed, lengthened, almost lanceolate, granular surface, regularly serrate, dark green. Large, oval, black-scaled buds. Flower 9 to 10 cm in diameter, full, shape undecided between rosiform and peoniform, of a ruddy-orange-red color. Petals of medium strength, all curly, embossed, numerous, and forming by their union a strange centre. Very beautiful. This does not appear to be a sport of Grunone.
