Hōshōki

Yokoyama & Kirino, 1989, Nihon no Chinka, p.193, colour photo and description: Medium size, deep red, vase-shaped single, with 5 broad, emarginate, overlapping petals, with a large, central stamen cluster, filaments pinkish to white, joined for the lower third. Blooms mid-season to late. Leaves bright green, broad-elliptic, apices blunt acute, margins serrate. Originated in the Chūbu District, Japan.

淡交社.1989年. 《日本の椿花》.ｐ.193　. 中部產. [花]濃紅色の一重、筒咲き、筒しべの中輪、3～4月。花弁は肉厚で、締りのよい端正な筒咲き。さらに濃紅色の花には山吹色の葯の対比が鮮やかで、一重好みの人には魅力的な品種。「葉」広楕円形で、波曲のない艶葉のため、花との調和が良い。[樹]立性で強健。　　[来歴]　　　。　　文/小埼・写真/神園
