Yoshimura, 1961, Higo Tsubaki Meikan lists as best flower; Hirat­suka, 1964, Higo Camellia, pp.14, 40; Yokoyama & Kirino, 1989, Nihon no Chinka, p.272, colour photo and description: Medium size, pink veined deeper with fine white edge, flat single of 6-8 broad emarginate petals and a central burst of about 180 stamens in a ring formation. Blooms mid-season to late. Leaves medium size, elliptic, deep green, apices acuminate, margins serru­late. See Seibundō Shinkōsha, 1979, Senchinshū, pp.120, 239. Originated in Kumamoto Prefec­ture, Japan. Different reading: ‘Haru-no-kasumi’.
