Heiliangge (C. japonica) Liu Xinkai et al. 2023, Illustrations of the New Camellia Hybrids that Bloom Year-round, Zhejiang Science and Technology Publishing House, p.554. HD-33-1.A chance seedling SZ-No.l selected from C. japonica cultivar 4Xiaosongzi. Flowers dark red with waxy luster, semi-double form, medium size, 7.5-9.5cm across and 4.5cm deep with 15-18 petals arranged in 3 rows, the petals thick texture, obovate, petal surfaces slightly crinkled and wavy, stamens united into a column. Leaves green, shiny, leathery, broad elliptic, margins shallowly serrate. Plant upright, branches dense and growth vigorous. Blooms from late-winter to the spring of following year. The cultivar name means “Black-bright Brother”.
