» English Description

Waterhouse, 1965, RHS., The Rhododendron and Camellia Yearbook, No.19, p.59: “Polar Bear strongly resembles its Great Eastern parent. This is also the case of Henry Price another Great Eastern seedling that originated at the same time (1944). This was named for Sir Henry Price when he secured a plant for Wakehurst Place, Sussex. It flowered there for the first time in 1964. It is a large formal double, deep crimson in colour.” Originated by E.G. Waterhouse. Gordon, NSW, Australia. See colour photo, p.94, Macoboy, 1981, The Colour Dictionary of Camellias.
